Shapefit Shapewear – Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy

This Returns Policy applies to all purchases made through the Shapefit online store ("we", "us", "our"). It is designed to comply with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa while also protecting our business against misuse.


1. General Policy

Due to the intimate nature of shapewear, we maintain strict hygiene and quality standards. As such, not all items are eligible for return or exchange.

By placing an order with Shapefit, you agree to the terms of this policy.


2. Returns Eligibility

You may request a return or exchange within 7 days of delivery provided that:

  • The item is unused, unworn, and in original condition

  • All tags, seals, and packaging are intact

  • The item has not been washed or altered

  • Proof of purchase is provided

Important Hygiene Rule

For health and hygiene reasons, we do not accept returns on:

  • Underwear-style shapewear

  • Bodysuits without protective hygiene seals (if seal is removed)

  • Any item that shows signs of wear, deodorant marks, makeup stains, perfume, or body odor


3. Defective or Incorrect Items (CPA Section 56)

In terms of the Consumer Protection Act, you are entitled to a remedy if goods are defective, damaged, or incorrect.

If you receive a defective or incorrect item, you must notify us within 6 months of delivery. We will, at your choice:

  • Repair the item, OR

  • Replace the item, OR

  • Refund the purchase price

We reserve the right to inspect the item before approving the claim.


4. Exchanges (Sizing Issues)

We understand sizing can be challenging with shapewear.

We allow one exchange per order for size-related issues, provided:

  • The item meets return eligibility requirements

  • The request is made within 7 days of delivery

Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is defective or incorrect.


5. Refunds

Refunds will only be processed if:

  • The item is returned and passes inspection, OR

  • The item is confirmed defective or incorrect

Refunds will be issued via the original payment method within 7–14 business days after approval.

We do not refund:

  • Original shipping fees

  • Return shipping costs (unless legally required)


6. Cooling-Off Period (Online Purchases – CPA Section 44)

In accordance with South African law, you may cancel your order within 7 days of delivery without reason.

However:

  • Items must still meet hygiene and resale conditions

  • You are responsible for return shipping costs

  • We may charge a reasonable fee for damaged or used goods


7. Non-Returnable Items

The following items are strictly non-returnable:

  • Sale or clearance items (unless defective)

  • Gift cards

  • Items marked "Final Sale"

  • Worn or used shapewear


8. Return Process

To initiate a return:

  1. Email us at sales@shapefit.co.za with your order number and reason for return

  2. Wait for return approval and instructions

  3. Ship the item back within 5 days of approval

We are not responsible for returns sent without approval.

We recommend using a trackable courier service, as we are not liable for lost return parcels.


9. Inspection & Abuse Prevention

All returns are subject to inspection.

We reserve the right to:

  • Reject returns that do not meet our policy

  • Refuse service for suspected abuse or excessive returns

  • Charge a handling/restocking fee where permitted by law

11. Legal Disclaimer

This policy is governed by the laws of South Africa. Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).

Where there is any conflict between this policy and the CPA, the CPA will apply.
